Tisha b’Av: A Time to Grieve
We are living in a crisis moment. Judaism is no stranger to periods of crisis. We might experience moments of challenge as individuals, communities, countries or the world. Rabbi Benay Lappe calls these moments of upheaval, “crash” moments. These painful and scary moments of crash can also be opportunities for necessary growth and change.
The Jewish holiday of Tisha b’Av provides encouragement and a container to grieve the things that feel hard and scary in this moment. Grieving is a tool to build resilience so that we can find our way through crisis moments.
We will gather with space to sing, to share in small groups what is heavy in our hearts and then to support each other in a grieving ritual with music and community to guide us.
