SUMMARY:The Jewish Studio Process
DESCRIPTION:\n\nWhat happens when you combine Jewish text\, poetry\, great
questions and a room full of art supplies? You get lively\, deep conversat
ion and inventive visual arts!\n\nJoin Laura Paradise\, an expressive arts
practitioner\, to experience the process for yourself. Laura has been wor
king with the Jewish Studio Process\, developed by the Jewish Studio Proje
ct\, for many years. The process weaves together Jewish text study and oth
er source material with discussion\, art-making\, and reflection. On the s
urface\, the process is simple: we read text\, we study and discuss togeth
er\, we move from our heads to a creative open studio space\, and we witne
ss our creative work. The result is anything but simple. As we delve into
creative expression\, we discover insights and depth that enhance our unde
rstanding of readings. And we have fun in the process!\n\nWhat makes the p
rocess “Jewish” is some of the text used. What makes the process spe
cial is its spiritual foundation. The theme will center in Jewish practic
es around greeting/sanctifying the new moon\, as a framework for gathering
during the Hebrew months and entering deep time together.\n\nYou don’t
need to be an artist to participate. You only need curiosity\, an open min
d\, and a willingness to pick up a pastel or crayon or marker or pencil!\n
