SUMMARY:Kabbalat Shabbat (Welcoming Shabbat)
DESCRIPTION:Led by Rabbi Jan Katz\n\nRabbi Jan Katz received her ordination
  from Hebrew Union College in New York City in May 2021. Her previous care
 ers included 27 years as Director of Jewish Education Services of the Jewi
 sh Federation of Rochester\, NY\;  Administration and Program Director of
  the Hickey Center for Interfaith Study and Dialogue at Nazareth Universit
 y\; and Director of Judaic Faculty at Hillel Community Day School also in 
 Rochester\, NY. Her rabbinic internships included a summer chaplaincy at S
 trong Memorial Hospital\, a year of pulpit service at Temple Sinai in Roch
 ester\, transcribing and indexing Elie Wiesel’s 160 lectures at the 92nd
  St. Y in NYC (1966-2014)\, and for the Central Conference of American Rab
 bis (CCAR) - editing and writing a study guide to a newly published book o
 n the diverse paths to encountering God.  Jan’s volunteer involvement i
 n the last 20 years has centered on relationship-building\, advocacy and s
 upport for the local Muslim community\, for Sudanese refugees\, for homele
 ss families\, and for the local food distribution network. Immediately fol
 lowing ordination\, Jan was the Interim Editor of the CCAR Press\, which p
 ublishes scriptures with commentary\, prayers books\, and books of contemp
 orary Jewish interest (ethics\, spirituality\, environmentalism\, diversit
 y and inclusion\, etc.) for the Reform Jewish Movement worldwide. From Jul
 y 2022 to June 2025\,  Jan served as part time pulpit rabbi at Temple B
 ’nai Israel in Laconia\, New Hampshire. Presently\, she serves as part-t
 ime CEO of the Brennan Goldman Institute for Catholic/Jewish/Interfaith En
 gagement in Rochester\, NY. Jan is married to Rabbi Emeritus Alan Katz of 
 Temple Sinai.  She is the proud mother of three grown children and 12 gra
